Sebastián Lojo (1989) is a director and cinematographer born in Guatemala City. He has dedicated himself to filming feature films and short films across the globe, including Malaysia, Lebanon, Canada, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Guatemala, and Turkey.
Los Fantasmas, his debut feature film as a director, was the first Guatemalan film to premiere in the Bright Future Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in 2020. His work as both director and cinematographer has been showcased at prestigious film festivals such as Berlin Critics’ Week (2020), Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF - 2020), Cannes Film Festival (Semaine de la Critique) (2024), and Venice International Film Festival (Biennale) (2024), among others. He has received multiple awards for his directing and cinematography, including the Canal+ Award at the Cannes International Film Festival (Critics’ Week, 2024).
Sebastián is currently developing his second feature film as a director, Pilgrim, a Guatemalan/Taiwanese production featuring Lee Kang-Shen as the protagonist. He is also working on his fourth feature film as a cinematographer, Los Invisibles, directed by Andrés Rodríguez.
