Role at Solent
As Solent's Student Employability and Opportunities Manager, Jen leads the Careers and Advice team within Solent Careers, supporting students and alumni with developing employability skills and transitioning into work and further study.Â
Jen's team delivers a range of support, including careers guidance, employability advice, in-curriculum work, professional mentoring, placement support and skills development. She is also Chair of the Women's Staff Network - the largest affinity network at the University.Â
Experience
Before joining Solent in 2024, Jen worked with two other higher education institutions. Most recently, she was Lead Faculty Placements and Employability Officer at the University of Portsmouth, supporting science and health students with year-long placements and other work-based learning opportunities.Â
Jen previously spent six years at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge as an Employability and Careers Adviser. In this role, Jen was responsible for developing initiatives for students in the arts, humanities and social sciences faculty, and supported careers education both in and outside the curriculum.
Prior to joining the higher education sector, Jen worked in recruitment across several different agencies, recruiting across a diversity of industries, including fashion, textiles and accountancy.Â
