Proud to support Pride

Being home to a diverse community of staff, students and alumni, Solent University is proud to support Southampton Pride. This annual civic event enables us to celebrate diversity and bring together our local community while aligning to our Civic Charter priority of building a culturally enriched and cohesive city.

For the seventh year running, Solent University is a proud partner of Southampton Pride, taking place on Saturday 27 August.

As one of the main partners for the day, staff, students, alumni and the local community can get involved with Solent University on the day in the following ways:

Re:So pop-up

The Re:So (Retail Solent initiative) team will be at Guildhall Square with a variety of Pride and city merchandise promoting student and alumni work.

Say hi!

Pop along to the Solent University and Re:So stand, have a chat with the team, and grab some Pride themed stickers.

Look out for Solent staff, students and alumni in the Pride parade taking place through the streets of Southampton!

Highlights from Solent

Making Southampton Pride an online success

In response to Covid-19, Pride 2020 transformed into a virtual event, with Solent's involvement being more crucial than ever. Our staff and students stepped in to provide vital technical support by live broadcasting Pride from our studios on campus.

Marching for equality and diversity

In 2019, staff, students and alumni took part in the Southampton Pride parade march through the city centre with branded t-shirts and boards.

Sharing the love

Last year, 17 staff, students and alumni volunteered for Southampton Pride, undertaking a variety of roles. Visitors were able to get in on the action, taking a seat in our giant deckchair photo post.

Flying the flag

Our St Mary's campus, home to the Warsash Maritime School, proudly flew the LGBTQ flag to celebrate Pride in our city.
