ApprenticeshipService Designer Apprenticeship (Online Delivery)

Course overview

Take your organisational skills to the next level with this service designer apprenticeship. Learn how to improve or develop services to meet the needs of organisations, users, and other stakeholders.

This course is delivered online, meaning there's a high degree of flexibility for apprentices to study alongside their work, and for employers to suit the needs of their business. You'll take part in regular workshops with your fellow students and you'll also receive dedicated 1-2-1 time with your tutor.

This course is also offered with flexible start dates to meet the needs of the employer and the apprentice, so you will never have to wait for the course to begin in the future. We call this method 'roll on and roll off' so you can pick the month that suits your needs the best to start.

As a service designer, you'll improve or redesign services currently offered, or develop or design new service propositions to meet the needs of the user as well as the business and other stakeholders. Service designers take a user-centred, collaborative and exploratory approach to design the new service, iterating toward implementation.

This apprenticeship covers all aspects of service design, from user research and service/journey mapping, through to implementation and evaluation.

A service designer regularly interacts with a wide range of internal stakeholders, from front-line staff to service managers, senior leaders to heads of the organisation - you'll be guided through the specifics of stakeholder management and problem solving from a service design perspective during your studies.

You'll also explore the journey, encompassing end to end (the start of a process to the very end step they take), front to back (both user-facing and back office to create a seamless service) and cross-channel (to seamlessly and often interchangeably deliver the service through the various available platforms, which can include digital touch points).
