The role of the Level 1 coach is to ‘Assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching sessions, normally under direct supervision’.
This basic level course is perfect if you are starting out in coaching basketball. It's ideal if you already have a club coach and you are planning to work alongside them in a school or coaching environment. The qualification enables you to assist other coaches in delivering sessions. Once qualified you will need to be under supervision as this qualification is a supporting role.
Ideally you are actively involved in basketball as either a player, parent or teacher.
You must be aged 16 or above to participate in this course

Candidates will be required to demonstrate an understanding and application of certain coaching techniques in an appropriate environment. The assessment of the practical syllabus will be assessed by the course tutor on a minimum of one 15-minute coaching session, provided a good demonstration of the basic skills of basketball.
This nationally-recognised qualification is aimed at aspiring coaches to take the first step in coaching young people and adults in basketball. Achieving this qualification will allow coaches to support more experienced coaches to deliver basketball training sessions.
