If you aspire to build a career in newspapers, TV, radio or digital media, Southampton Solent University’s journalism programme can help you to become an expert at producing content for a range of different mediums. You’ll learn the fundamental academic theory that underpins good journalism, gain insights from inside the industry and explore the culture of the modern reporting.
This one-year course allows you to ‘top up’ your existing skills and qualifications, turning them into a full honours degree in journalism.

Our multi-million-pound media academy includes a fully Mac-equipped newsroom, several multi-camera TV studios, eight radio studios, Reuters and Sky news feeds, the latest professional media editing software and a dedicated crisis room.
Social media platforms and the internet now empower millions of people from all around the world with the ability to access, post and make comment on editorial content in an instant. As such, we take care to look at the ways in which this is changing the media landscape, and how it can present unique opportunities for savvy young job seekers and entrepreneurs.
