We know money is one of the biggest worries when you’re thinking about applying to university and you’re not alone. The good news is that if you’re a UK student, tuition fees are capped by the government, and Student Finance is in place to help you pay.
Most students don’t pay anything upfront, and there are loans available to help you fund your studies.
Your tuition fee isn’t just for lectures. It helps fund:

What tuition fees do I pay?
UK tuition fees are capped nationally and reviewed periodically by the government. The exact amount can vary depending on:
- Whether you study full-time or part-time
- The type of course you choose
- Where in the UK you normally live

How Solent decides on course fees and changes
Tuition fees are set annually based on the associated costs in relation to the delivery of your course, and take into consideration any Government restrictions or requirements. The fee, once published, will be set for that year of entry, but may increase annually in line with the national inflation rates and subject to Government policy on higher education. Any change will be applied to both new and continuing students, as appropriate.
Fees payable to external bodies are not set by the University and, as such, are beyond our control, resulting in any changes being passed to the student. Students will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
