Our approach to partnerships

Southampton Solent University collaborates with a diverse range of international and UK partners to deliver transnational education, progression opportunities, articulation routes, and strategic collaborations. Our partnerships are designed to:

Educational partnerships

Educational partnerships are a key part of our strategic ambition to deliver inclusive, practice‑focused and globally relevant education that responds to industry, society and student need.

Building on our strengths in applied learning, industry engagement and professional practice, our partnerships enable students to access high‑quality higher education through flexible routes, while ensuring graduate outcomes remain closely aligned to real‑world careers. By working with trusted organisations in the UK and internationally, we extend the reach of our distinctive education model and support learners from a wide range of backgrounds to succeed.

Our educational partnerships support the delivery of Solent programmes overseas, clearly defined progression and articulation pathways, and opportunities for academic collaboration and mobility. Each partnership is developed in line with our academic strategy and international ambitions, underpinned by rigorous quality assurance, shared values and a commitment to an excellent student experience.

Community partnerships

Community partnerships are central to our role as a civic university, rooted in Southampton and connected locally, regionally and internationally.

These partnerships support access to higher education, promote health and wellbeing, develop skills and confidence, and strengthen place‑based opportunities. From outreach and attainment‑raising activity with schools and colleges, to inclusive sport and physical activity initiatives delivered through Sport at Solent, our partnerships are designed to respond to local need while contributing to regional and global priorities.

Built on shared values, mutual benefit and long‑term commitment, our community partnerships enable students and staff to engage beyond the campus, apply learning in real‑world contexts, and make a tangible difference.

Become a partner

Solent University works in partnership with organisations in the UK and internationally to deliver high‑quality, inclusive and professionally focused education. Our partnerships are built on shared values, mutual benefit and a commitment to academic quality, student experience and long‑term collaboration. We welcome expressions of interest from institutions seeking to collaborate through franchise (collaborative) provision, articulation agreements, progression partnerships or student exchange arrangements.

All new partnerships follow a structured and proportionate development process to ensure alignment with our academic strategy, regulatory requirements and institutional priorities. This process includes initial discussions, due diligence and academic review, followed by formal approval and agreement. Throughout development, potential partners work closely with our academic teams and professional services to explore strategic fit, academic compatibility, delivery capacity and student outcomes.
