These partnerships typically involve curriculum mapping, recognition of prior learning and agreement of progression or exchange arrangements that enable students to move between institutions with confidence.
Overview of the process
- Initial discussion and expression of interest – Early conversations take place to explore the proposed progression pathway, academic scope, subject alignment and mutual objectives between Solent University and the partner institution.
- Preliminary assessment – An initial review is undertaken to confirm strategic fit, academic compatibility, institutional reputation and regulatory standing of the prospective partner. Internal review and agreement to continue obtained.
- Curriculum mapping – Academic teams work collaboratively to map the partner’s curriculum against Solent University programmes to confirm credit recognition, entry points and academic standing for progressing students.
- Due diligence – Proportionate desk‑based due diligence is carried out to assess academic quality, governance, regulatory compliance and any identified risks. Further information or review may be requested where required.
- Agreement development – The appropriate documentation is drafted, normally a Letter of Recognition or Memorandum of Understanding, setting out progression routes, entry requirements and any agreed commercial arrangements.
- Approval and sign‑off – The proposed articulation agreement is reviewed and approved in line with Solent University’s partnership governance processes before being formally signed by authorised representatives.
- Implementation – Once approved, the progression route is confirmed with admissions, academic teams and marketing colleagues, and operational arrangements are put in place to support students.
- Monitoring and review – Articulation agreements are monitored regularly and reviewed in line with the agreement term to ensure continued academic alignment, student progression and mutual benefit.
