Biggest sports fair yet!

Over 5,000 students joined us at the Sports Fayre 2014, held in the Guildhall Square in Southampton on Thursday 25 September! The Fayre was part of the larger Freshers Fayre, organised and promoted by the Solent Students Union.

At the fair.

The Sport Solent staff were at the Fayre in full force, talking to freshers and returning students about what we have to offer them. One of our most popular freebies was our Sport Solent branded beans, advertising our £99 annual gym offer!

Sports coaching at the fayre.

Over 30 sports teams also had stands to promote their respective teams, and to talk to the students about how to sign up for trials. Many trials are happening in the coming weeks so check out the individual club web pages on our website, and join the teams Facebook groups for more info.

Our friends at South Coast Journalism attended the Fayre and interviewed Sports Development Officer, Tom Morton to find out his thoughts on how the event was going. Watch the interview below, and read the full write up on the South Coast Journalism website.

A busy day.

South Coast Journalism also spoke to Team Solent Ladies FC pitch captain, Emma Pinner who has high hopes, following the teams most successful season ever last academic year.

It is fair to say this year was the most successful Sports Fayre yet so a big thank you to all the students who came to talk to us about how they can get into sport whilst they are at Solent!

Lots of new faces.
