Marketing students attend event in Merlin Quay

Here, Southampton Solent Business School talk about a recent marketing network event.

BA (Hons) Marketing students were invited to attend an ‘in-house’ and ‘agency marketing’ event at Griffon Hoverwork, based in Southampton’s Merlin Quay.

The activities were led by Mike Coveny, head of marketing at Griffon Hoverwork. The students were also given an interactive presentation by HR manager, Krysia Watson, marketing assistants, Alex Paton, and Solent graduate Selina Coombe.

Mike said that “it was delightful to have your students here with us. They were all very attentive and I was particularly impressed with the insightful questions”.

The overall interest in the event was excellent, and students enjoyed getting off campus for the event and traveled by coach to the venue. They found the presentations beneficial and the activities engaging.

The marketing network group identified the ‘outlining techniques of how to sell yourself’, the discussion on key employability skills and recruitment procedures as the highlights of the event. They commented that the visit was an ‘excellent opportunity to interact with an external business’.

Griffon Hoverwork are looking to recruit two marketing interns from Solent – one current student for work experience this summer and a one-year paid internship for a Solent graduate.
