Dual role for football studies graduate

Football studies graduate Scott Hastings has been busy using his degree skills at two clubs since graduating. Scott's dual role means that he splits his time between Chelsea FC's Foundation, where he coaches in the club's development centre, and Crawley Town, where he is employed as the club's performance analyst for the under-18s. Discussing the value of his degree in helping him gain the posts at both clubs, Scott said: "Completing the football studies degree at Southampton Solent has opened so many doors since graduating in 2012. Often a minimum requirement for professional football clubs is having a degree and to have a specific one for my chosen industry is an added bonus. The course syllabus is fantastic and has developed my knowledge greatly. Core units such as coaching for football, football management and globalisation of football have aided this. In addition, the impressive links the tutors have mean that coaching/analysis opportunities are always being sent your way, which gives you great working experience at professional clubs."
