Within the Faculty of Sport, Health and Social Sciences we have a diverse range of disciplines which include sport and health sciences, social work, nursing, biomedical sciences, social sciences, psychology and education. We have ambitious research plan in the faculty and our research spans a number of these disciplines. Colleagues in the faculty actively contribute to research priorities, publishing in the areas of Human Function and Health, Social Research and Policy and Environment and Engineering.
Research in the faculty is supported by the Faculty Research Advisory Group, which includes a number of research active colleagues in the faculties and schools.
Research strategic lead
In each faculty there is a strategic lead for research whose role is to develop infrastructures that support colleagues in research.
In the Faculty of Sport, Health and Social Sciences, we encourage collaboration - to do this we have a number of mechanisms where research is discussed. For example, in the faculty we host monthly research coffee events, and a monthly faculty wide seminar series, as well a series of mini writing retreats for all colleagues.
Research groups
The Mind-Body Connections Research Group, the Wellbeing and Applied Research in Psychology (WARP), and the Solent Identities and Inequalities Group are active research groups in the faculty.
We also have a series of podcasts about research - if you want to know more about our research and researchers, you can find out more in our Meet the researcher podcasts.
