They’ll also hear from expert speakers, including our alumni.

Students booking for this taster day will experience our cutting-edge human health labs, nursing wards and social work provision. This event is designed to support students learning and develop their interest in pursuing a rewarding career in social work or nursing. The day aims to support students with their current further education courses, with interactive sessions and an opportunity to ask questions to our industry professionals.Â
Solent Sound
4-8 November 2024
Solent’s Battle of the Bands is back! Your learners will take part in rehearsals and recording sessions in Solent’s cutting-edge music and recording suites. Our academic team will support their learning and encourage real time thinking and development of their music style and melodies. A live 'Battle of the Bands' style competition will follow around Easter. With industry guest judges providing critical feedback, awards and prizes for the winners and a recording of the session from our media students for their professional portfolios.
Business, law and accountancy taster day
8 November 2024
Join us for our annual departmental taster day. This collaborative day provides students with an insight into our suite of business, law and accountancy courses. With sessions running in our specially equipped law moot room, and our Bloomberg suite which delivers real-time business and market news and data. Students will be able to discuss careers opportunities with our industry experts and leave with an understanding of what our courses can offer them.Â
CGFX

The CGFX Festival is the must-attend event for anyone interested in CGI and VFX. Wednesday, also known as our colleges day, has speakers that cover a range of talks for CGI/ VFX, Film, Animation and Games.
Our speakers will share their insights and expertise on everything from the latest trends and technologies to their own personal career journeys. The CGFX Festival is the perfect place to learn, grow, and connect with other VFX students, alumni and professionals.
FRONT competition
15 November 2024
The annual FRONT competition is back - this year's theme is looking at deities and demons. Students will have access to our industry standard facilities to develop a full look around one of three categories: editorial beauty, sculpted hair and radical bodies. This competition is a must for any students interested in make-up and hair design, special effects and prosthetics, and will provide valuable work for their professional portfolio.
Accountancy and finance taster morning

This jam-packed taster morning gives your students the opportunity to explore the exciting subject of accountancy and finance. The day aims to support students with their current further education courses, with interactive sessions and an opportunity to ask questions to our guest speaker and industry professionals.Â
Crime and social inequalities conference
18 November 2024
Our annual sociology conference enables your students to engage in engaging and interactive sessions relating to the major sociological topics such as social inequalities and crime. Our professional speakers aim to connect with students and debate, to create a further understanding of sociology and studying it at University.
CIOB student construction challenge
9 January 2025
Our annual Student Construction challenge with the Chartered Institute of Building is returning. Student teams will be presented with a live brief and asked to create their concept designs in our workshops, supported by our industry professionals. During the presentations, they will receive feedback by our industry leaders, and winners will receive a prize and work for their professional portfolio.Â
During the day, they will get the opportunity to visit our Industry fair and network with other students, alumni and professionals.Â
Creative media taster day
16 January 2025
Do you have students interested in Creative Media, but not sure of which pathway to choose? This day is perfect for them. With sessions ranging from Pirate Podcasting, Screenwriting for Sci-Fi and Construction and Character Design, there will be something for everyone. Run by our industry professional, the day aims to provide students with active group working, and real work they can include in their professional portfolios. They will be able to tour our facilities including our brand-new VP stage, newsrooms, film and media production suites and gaming rooms.Â

The Department of Sport and Health welcomes students keen to explore the many options Solent has to offer to those considering higher education as their next step.Â
Our Sports Complex offers students the opportunity to have hands on experience using industry grade facilities. If your students are interested in Coaching or Fitness, we have our high-performance sports hall and strength and conditioning high-performance gym.Â
Our purpose-built biomechanics laboratory boasts a range of specialised equipment, including a state-of-the-art Vicon 3D motion capture system that allows athletes' movements to be recorded and analysed. Perfect for students interested in exercise science and therapy.Â
And our BASES accredited Physiology lab allows students to explore latest equipment used for physiological and biomechanical assessment.Your learners will come away from these sessions engaged and excited to explore their higher education opportunities.Â
CSI Solent
Coming in 2025
This exciting event will include three subject sessions: criminology, psychology and law. Students will explore a criminal situation and work together to develop their knowledge using evidence, forensics, the Solent Law court and crime scene.Â
The aim of this day is to introduce studying these subjects at university. Students will develop their knowledge in these areas, while having a fun, engaging, and interactive day.
