We run a number of subject-specific taster days on fixed dates throughout the year. These are for level three students, accompanied by their school/college staff.

Social work and nursing information event
Date TBC (usually mid-October)
For students interested in pursuing a very rewarding career in social work or nursing and who are keen to study these courses at university. Each event is designed to support your students’ learning. Previous events have included subject talks, student finance, campus tours, and a chance to talk with our teachers and admissions professionals. The day aims to support students with their current further education courses.

Sociology conference

Our annual sociology conference enables your students to participate in engaging and interactive sessions relating to a key, topical sociological theme such as social inequalities and crime. The day aims to support students with their current further education courses.

Solent Sound
4-8 November 2024
Your learners will take part in rehearsals and recording sessions in Solent’s cutting-edge music facilities. A live 'Battle of the Bands' style competition will follow around Easter.

CGFX

Apprenticeship activity day
20 November 2024
The Government is planning a blood health check for the adult population. Your key stage 5 students will consider how this hypothetical task links to careers in nursing, engineering, and digital and technology. They will hear from current apprentices and employers too.
All students must attend with a member of staff from their school/colleges.

CSI Solent
Date TBC (usually late-November/early-December)
This exciting event will include three subject sessions: criminology, psychology and law. The aim is to introduce what it is like to study these subjects at university. Students will develop their knowledge in these areas, while having a fun, engaging, and interactive day.

The Department of Sport and Health welcomes students keen to explore the many options Solent has to offer to those considering higher education as their next step. Your learners will explore our campus and facilities and engage in exciting subject taster sessions.

Criminology conference

The annual criminology conference gives potential students chance to explore topics relating to criminology such as ‘victims of human trafficking’, ‘gender and victimisation’ and ‘the deserving and non-deserving victims of crime.’
