Event update - Coronavirus

The Organising Committee of Solent University, Southampton and BASES, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences have considered all current information available to them from Government agencies, including potential bans on mass gatherings, and, as a result, have decided to postpone the BASES BIG 2020 event on 17 April 2020.

Specific dates for the rescheduled event, taking place at Solent University, will be provided in due course. Delegates will be contacted directly by BASES with further information regarding their registration and the options available to them, as soon as possible.

Solent University is pleased to be hosting the BASES Biomechanics Interest Group 2020 Meeting in our stunning Spark building.

We have a full programme of events, including keynote sessions and a range of clinical and sports-related biomechanics workshops. We look forward to seeing you there!

Dr Kirill StafraceDr Kirill Micallef Stafrace
MD (Malta), MSc Sports Med. (Lond.), FFSEM (Ireland), FFSEM (UK), FFIMS (Inter.), EFSM (EU)

Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace is the Vice President of the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations, a consultant in sports and exercise medicine at Mater Dei Hospital, President of the Maltese Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine, a director within the Maltese Olympic Committee, as well as the Chairman of their Medical Commission, and a visiting senior lecturer in sports science at the University of Malta.

Dr Martin Warner is a lecturer in health sciences at the University of Southampton and works within the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis Versus Arthritis. Dr Warner's research experience involves understanding the biomechanical mechanisms of joint dysfunction, specifically the upper limb and shoulder, in sport and physical activity.
