Welcome

Team Solent Football Club is one of the most successful university clubs in recent years. Our two teams - men's and women's squads - compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues.

Mitre football

Both the men's and women's teams have experienced a great level of success over the past few years, and are continuing to build on this success for future seasons.

Our most talented football athletes can be selected for our High Performance Academy, which provides financial and mentoring support to assist talented student players in reaching their full sporting potential. Successful applicants receive a support package worth up to £2,500.

The men's and women's teams train and play home matches at Test Park Sports Ground, our multi-million-pound outdoor sport complex. Test Park includes a 3G multi-purpose all-weather sports pitch, a floodlit football stadium, two grass rugby pitches, six changing rooms, and conference facilities.

Our History

Team Solent Men's Football

Solent's football programme was integrated into the Saturday club structure in the early 2000s. Team Solent Men's Football was accepted into the Southampton FA and in their first season pulled off an unprecedented treble - winning Southampton Junior Division 1, the Southampton Junior Cup and the Hampshire Junior Cup.

Team Solent continued to build on this winning start, reaching the Southampton Senior Cup final two seasons in a row, and winning it once more in the 2010/11 season. Winning the Hampshire Premier League Cup that same season added yet more silverware to the trophy cabinet.

Team Solent Men's Football has gone on to win the Southampton Senior Cup on a further two occasions, most recently in the 2015/16 season, beating Blackfield and Langley 2-0 in the final at Southampton FC's St Mary's Stadium.

Last year they took home the BUCS Western 6A League trophy with the 2nd and 3rd teams coming 1st and 2nd respectively.

  • Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Cup winners (2016).
  • BUCS Conference Cup runners up (2016).
  • Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Division One champions (2015).
  • Southampton Senior Cup winners (2015).

Team Solent Women's Football

Team Solent Women's Football have also enjoyed success over the years, most notably winning the BUCS League, BUCS Cup, Hampshire County Women's League Division 2 and Invitation Cup and Hampshire FA Women's Intermediate Cup in the 2013/14 season. The team were also BUCS Western Conference 2A winners in the 2016/17 season.

Team Solent Ladies currently play in BUCS Western Conference 1A.

Women's team recent successes

  • 2019-2020 BUCS National Trophy Finalist (finals game cancelled due to Covid-19).
  • BUCS Western Conference 2A winners (2016/17).
  • BUCS Western Conference 1A league winners (2015).
