Chris has a professional background working both in Human Resources and the health and fitness industry, before moving into health promotion.

In 2009 Chris used his combined industry knowledge and experience to research, design and launch ‘Solent Health’ an innovative health promotion unit at Solent University.

Under Chris’s leadership, Solent Health has won three national awards from ukactive for active workplaces and has been shortlisted three times for the BUPA employee wellbeing award by Business in the Community (BITC). They were also shortlisted in 2017 for the Royal Society for Public Health Workplace Wellbeing award.

As well as managing Solent Health, Chris is the unit leader on the health promotion and public health units on the BSc (Hons) Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science, and BSc (Hons) Applied Human Nutrition.

Chris holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Southampton, a postgraduate diploma in Personnel and Development and a postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Solent University. Chris also holds an MSc in Health Improvement and Health Promotion from Robert Gordon University and is a member of the Royal Society for Public Health and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Outside of work Chris has always been passionate about exercise and looking after his health and has trained since his late teens in various activities from powerlifting to Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Nowadays, Chris enjoys mountain biking, training with kettlebells and riding his cargo bike, rather than using the car!
