Biography

Chris has an MA in Visual Communication, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and is a Senior Lecturer at Solent University delivering on the BA Graphic Design course, (level 6 tutor, unit leader for Professional Context, Visual Communication Research and Final Major Project), and MA Visual Communication Course.

He has extensive experience in all areas of creative art directing in graphic design, moving image and exhibition design and wayfinding and is at present writing an Experiential Graphic Design pathway for the School of Art Design and Fashion’s Graphic Design BA (Hons) course.

He has exhibited artwork in several galleries including a recent exhibition in Vilnius (Literatu Street) and has been a panel member at the Fete de l’anim 2017 in Lille.

He is about to undertake a PhD looking into ‘stereotypography’ (The politics of design and typography).

  1. Industry experience

    Chris is also an independent designer based in Bath creating and delivering visual/corporate identities, complete publications and integrated campaigns, brochures, exhibition design, point of sale, photography, illustration and web design, for clients both national and international.

    Chris' clients have included Marks and Spencer, Virgin, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Heineken and Glastonbury Ales.

    He has also worked in Spain for two years mainly on packaging projects.

  2. Teaching experience

    Before joining Solent, Chris taught at Somerset School of Art and Technology, Bath Spa University and Bath College.
  3. Research interests

    Chris is about to undertake a PhD looking into 'stereotypography' (the politics of design and typography).
  4. Awards

    Chris has been the recipient of the LinoType Design Award.
