Biography

Kevin joined Solent University in 2013 as a lecturer in health, exercise and sport science. He graduated from Solent University in 2006 with a BA (Hons) Health and Fitness Management degree.

In 2007, he graduated from Brunel University with an MSc in Sport Science (Human Performance). Kevin has also completed a CertEd from the University of Portsmouth.

Kevin is currently working on his PhD study focusing on novel aerobic exercise modalities and the potential benefits on individuals with Type II Diabetes.

    Kevin's research interests include exercise for cardiovascular disease, exercise rehabilitation for clinical populations – particularly Diabetes Mellitus, Heart Rate Variability (HRV) recovery following exercise in clinical populations and eccentric exercise for the treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus

    Kevin has previously led Exercise Referral schemes for both Southampton City Council and Valley Leisure and has extensive experience working as a Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation instructor at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

    He has gained nationally recognised qualifications in Exercise Referral, Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation, Phase IV Cancer Rehabilitation, Obesity and Diabetes, Falls Prevention and Clinical Exercise Science.

    Through a diverse career spanning almost 20 years in both private and public sectors, Kevin has developed extensive experience working with less able, deconditioned and unwell populations to improve their health and wellbeing. This includes roles within the NHS (thoracic and cardiovascular) at University Hospital Southampton as well as working in collaboration and partnership with likeminded organisations to facilitate physical activity opportunities.
