Alex  Scott

Biography

Alex is a lecturer in CGI and VFX in the Department of Film and Media. He joined Solent University in 2018 and has since helped organise Solent’s first Viz. Arch Viz event and embedded a Shotgun software pipeline to the course for Rushes. 

Alex has a PGCE from Southampton University where he completed a research project into the pedagogy behind ‘The teaching of capability in ICT’ and achieved his bachelor's degree from Bournemouth University in 2008 where he focused on the areas of post production and visual effects. He has several years’ experience in teaching higher education, with a background in further education and in secondary. While in secondary he was subject of an Adobe case study on helping implement the change of culture towards using industry software.

Alex loves to travel and is keen on outreach projects - working with colleges and schools to help provide opportunities for young people. Alex has recently been interviewed by Southern Universities Network on this same topic.

His areas of interest include architectural visualisation, visual effects and virtual reality. He is currently researching into the Real Time degradation of Physically Based Materials in Unreal Engine.
