Biography
After completing a degree in international politics, Janey realised that her heart belonged to fashion retail and so got a job on the shop floor at Selfridges post-university. This opened her eyes to how a fashion business worked and soon she moved into a head office role in River Island as an allocator, learning the basics of merchandising, allocation and replenishment from entry level.
A successful 20-year career in merchandising followed, which saw Janey move from the high street, to premium brands, and then onto the luxury sector. Janey has worked with wholesale, retail and franchise models, as well as travelling regularly to Europe and Asia on buy trips where she has had responsibility for selecting products for the UK market. In the last 10 years of her retail career, Janey worked at senior management level for Duchamp, Mulberry and Giorgio Armani.
Pregnancy prompted a move out of London, and into consultancy work and now Janey makes great use of her industry experience in the academic sector as a senior lecturer. Janey is a proud mum to Oscar and Lily, and loves running and high heels (although not at the same time!).
Janey has successfully completed her PGCTLHE, and was awarded a Distinction in her MA Luxury Brand Management, where her dissertation focussed on the importance of heritage in luxury fashion.

Janey spent 20 years working as a merchandiser and selection buyer for premium and luxury brands, most notably Giorgio Armani, Mulberry and Duchamp. She also undertakes consultancy work helping small luxury brands establish their head office merchandising functions.
