Jon Lomax

Biography

Jon joined Solent University in the summer of 2023 after a long career in the NHS. He has 23 years of clinical experience.

During his time with the NHS, Jon gained experience working within community mental health teams and crisis and out of hours services. Earlier in his career, he worked in both acute admissions wards and psychiatric intensive care units.

Jon has also been involved in developing psychological interventions clinics which involved taking approaches from both cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy. He has also been involved with initiatives such as going on patrol with police officers to prevent individuals with mental health needs being unnecessarily detained in police cells.

In his free time, Jon enjoys hiking; nature observation, such as seal spotting; and generally getting out into the great outdoors. He also pursues interests in literature, history, archaeology, photography, amateur astronomy, along with palaeontology.
