Warsash Maritime School

Biography
Kazi is a Class 1 marine engineer with more than 15 years of progressive seagoing experience and two years in management-level roles within the global shipping industry. His professional career spans a wide range of tanker operations, having sailed on VLCCs, and product and chemical tankers, where he built a strong technical foundation in engine-room management, vessel performance, and safe operational practices. Over the years, he has worked with modern marine propulsion systems and advanced machinery, taking on key responsibilities in management capacities for respected organisations such as Wallem Ship Management and Eastern Pacific Shipping.
Before joining Warsash, Sayed served as a technical superintendent for Doria Shipping Limited, where he oversaw fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, dry-dock planning, and operational efficiency. This shore-based experience strengthened his understanding of technical management, strategic planning, and cross-departmental coordination. His work also involved close engagement with safety systems and organisational processes, leading him to qualify as an ISO 45001 auditor and actively contribute to strengthening safety cultures on board vessels.
Alongside his industry experience, Sayed is deeply invested in maritime research and policy development. He has published several Scopus-standard papers in the field of maritime policy, exploring regulatory frameworks, governance issues, and the evolving landscape of seafarer welfare. His commitment to crew wellbeing extends beyond research; he is a certified first responder in stress management for seafarers and has conducted numerous training sessions focusing on mental health, resilience, and safe working practices at sea.
Sayed has also served as a part-time visiting lecturer at multiple maritime academies, sharing his practical and academic insights with the next generation of marine professionals. His approach to teaching integrates real-world experience, emerging industry trends, and a strong emphasis on professional development.
With a forward-thinking mindset, Sayed continues to advance his expertise in maritime safety, sustainability, and policy, contributing meaningfully to both industry practice and academic discourse.
