Soumya Abraham

Biography

Soumya is a registered nurse with both acute clinical experience and higher education teaching skills demonstrated by 15 years of experience in healthcare.

Soumya has completed her Bachelor’s in nursing, Master’s in nursing, and Wessex Neuroscience Nursing course before joining the Solent University and is an Associate Fellow in Higher Education. Soumya has a varied experience in nursing education as a practice development educator, a lecturer, a coordinator of the successful immersive nursing exchange programme and an external examiner.

In her current role Soumya acts as a module lead (Level 6 and Level 4), academic tutor and an admissions tutor. She implements the student experience transition model in her pedagogy to achieve the best student experience. 

Soumya is a proud and passionate nurse and has become a lecturer to spread the word of this wonderful career to inspire the future generation of nurses.

Soumya has worked as a as an acute care nurse in various areas which include surgical intensive care unit, gynaecology unit and the Wessex Thrombectomy unit.

Soumya also has a vast experience in nursing education as a practice development educator, a lecturer, a coordinator of the successful immersive nursing exchange programme and an external examiner. She is able to utilise her expertise of teaching and professional insight to support the student experience by ensuring theory and practice and linking.

She joined Solent University as an associate lecturer and is currently working as a senior lecturer in adult nursing. Soumya loves teaching at Solent University and feel privileged to work alongside students throughout their journey to becoming part of an amazing profession.
