Biography
Surya is an academically and professionally qualified civil and structural engineer with more than 18 years' industrial and teaching experience in civil and structural engineering, as well as construction and the built environment. Currently, he is a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Structural Engineers, working towards Chartered membership.
Surya holds a PhD and MSc in Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering from the University of Portsmouth and an MBA from the University of Wales. His doctoral thesis focused on how to predict detailed failure mechanism of multi-layered syntactic foam core sandwich panels using a novel Extended Cohesive Damage Model (ECDM) using ABAQUS, a structural analysis software.
Surya was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at Solent University in May 2022.
Further information
Prior to his academic career, Surya worked in the construction industry for more than a decade in various roles where he also showed excellent management and leadership skills by taking organisational responsibilities to enhance the better performance and outcomes.
