Solent holds the Small Business Charter award in recognition of our excellent enterprise education and links with businesses. Our Business School is a trailblazing member of the scheme with university staff and students working on consultancy projects and providing expert advice to local SMEs.
The award endorses the extensive opportunities the school provides to benefit our entrepreneurial students including professional networks, an incubator space for up to 20 SMEs, 'seed funding' of approximately £80k per year as well as numerous employability and enterprise events, awards and societies.

The Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) is the voice for the UK's business schools and sets the agenda for business and management education in the UK. As a member of the ABS, we have access to up-to-the-minute resources which help ensure that our courses are informed by best practice.
Solent Business School is featured as a case study of good practice in the 21st Century Leaders Report, published jointly by the CABS, Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
The Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD) is the professional body for individuals working in human resource management and offers aspiring HR professionals several routes to membership (which includes three different levels of qualification).
At Solent University we offer courses at two of these levels. At level 5, which is equivalent to the second year of an undergraduate degree, students can study for the Intermediate Diploma in Human Resource Management and gain Associate Membership with the CIPD.
At postgraduate level, the University offers its own PG Certificate, PG Diploma and MA Personnel and Development courses which are accredited by the CIPD. On successful completion of these courses students can apply for full Chartered Membership of the CIPD.
This is an essential qualification for all aspiring HR professionals and most large organisations in the UK expect their HR employees to possess or be working towards chartered membership.

Our accreditation from Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy) demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent learning experiences and confirms that our courses are aligned with the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching in higher education.

Solicitors Regulatory Authority/Bar Standards Board
Our LLB (Hons) course is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (for intending solicitors) and the Bar Standards Board (for intending barristers) and is a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD).
This means the University and students comply with the QLD rules of professional bodies found on the professional bodies’ websites and access professional advice and guidance on qualifying as a solicitor or barrister.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the global representative of professional marketing and CIM qualifications are internationally recognised. Health and Care Professions Council
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is the regulatory body for health and care education and training programmes. As the professional regulator, the HCPC approve and monitor social work qualifications to ensure that they meet the professional standards of education and training.
Our BA (Hons) Social Work course is approved by the HCPC and successful graduates are eligible to apply to the HCPC’s register. Maintaining the register is a key function of the HCPC and it lists health professionals who are ‘fit to practise’.
