Learn to play guitar like Hendrix

22nd July 2016

Passionate musicians will have the chance to participate in an exciting research project in Southampton this summer and help shape the future of how people learn to play guitars.

The project, being undertaken by Southampton Solent University, is looking for intermediate level guitarists to volunteer to play for 30 minutes per day for up to six days over a 14 day period in the first half of August. Applicants must apply by 3pm on Wednesday 27 July.

“This is a great opportunity for budding musicians to take some time out of each day, to do take part in live research that could help shape the future of how to learn the guitar,” says Martin Day, head of the research project at Solent.

“You may be a student at the University, professional or full time parent; if you are able to play guitar at an intermediate level, we would love to hear from you. We do not particularly want to attract accomplished guitarists, those who are still learning are most appropriate.”

Participants will receive a £20 amazon voucher in return.

A minimum of 15 and maximum of 30 participants will be chosen. Applying does not guarantee a place and a selection of participants will be chosen with various skills to give a well-rounded analysis.

Applicants must send their contact details, including an email, to Josh Graham (josh.graham@solent.ac.uk) by no later than 3pm on Wednesday 27 July.

You will need to be available to come in to Solent University for up to one hour from Monday 1-Monday 8 August inclusive, and again for up to one hour on Monday 8 August.

Times will be mutually agreed between the University and participant, but will be between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
