Shortlisting success for graduating students

10 June 2025

Four graduating students from Southampton Solent University’s Department of Art and Music have been shortlisted for the Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) 25 Project Pitch – a sought-after prize which will see the winner receive mentorship and the chance to take on an industry internship.

Students from BA (Hons) Fashion Management with Marketing alongside undergraduates from BA (Hons) Fashion and Beauty Media are among just 20 chosen from across the UK to pitch their Final Major Projects (FMPs) during the 2025 Graduate Fashion Week. The successful students are Faith Harrington, Megan Price Nielsen, Rosie Toomey and Terese Larson, who are all graduating from Solent University in July.

Solent is one of two universities to receive four shortlisted contenders each, signalling the exciting talent coming through campus as they get ready to carve out careers in the fashion industry. Course Leader for Fashion and Beauty Media and Fashion Management and Marketing, Rachel Lamb says:

“We are delighted to see four of our Solent University students selected for Graduate Fashion Week's Project Pitch, especially given the fierce competition from hundreds of fashion students across the UK. This selection showcases our Fashion and Beauty Media and Fashion Management and Marketing graduates as some of the country's best, with their innovative ideas and concepts igniting the interest of the judging panel.

“This achievement truly underscores their dedication and the innovative spirit we foster within our programmes here at Solent as one of the country’s leading practice-led universities."

Megan, whose Final Major Project proposes Mie, a purpose-led brand which is inspired by the Danish concept of Hygge, aims to support the wellbeing of Gen Z and millennials. A gifting brand, Mie reflects Megan’s Danish heritage and her promise as a designer. She says:

“Being shortlisted means the world to me. It feels like a real moment of recognition for all the passion, thought, and effort I’ve poured into this project. To have it acknowledged in this way is not only validating, but also incredibly motivating as I step into the industry. It’s a reminder that meaningful, purpose-driven design can have real impact, and that’s something I’ll continue to carry forward.

“Solent has been instrumental in shaping both my creative skill set and my confidence as a designer. The support from tutors and peers was amazing and helped me grow massively not just as a creative, but as a professional ready to take on real world challenges.”

Faith’s FMP showcases her eco-conscious approach to fashion. Combining sustainability with a love for pre-loved clothing, ReVibed aims to help retailers manage their stock and reduce waste, while giving consumers a platform to buy affordable and eco-friendly premium sportswear. Faith says:

“I am very grateful to have been selected for this amazing opportunity, and I am looking forward to showcasing this project that I worked so hard on.”

Terese’s project proposes a brand extension for GANNI, exploring a range which evolves with its wearer through their life, while Rosie has envisioned Dolly, a jewellery brand which aligns with the shifting behaviours of both Gen Z and Generation Alpha. Offering consumers products in both physical and online spaces, Dolly aims to redefine what it means to wear jewellery in the current digital age. Rosie says:

“Being shortlisted is an amazing opportunity that I take with great pride. I’m extremely happy and proud that industry professionals have seen potential within my FMP, and pitching to the panel will be an insightful experience that will cultivate business and professional development within myself.

“Solent has encouraged me to push creative boundaries while grounding my ideas in real-world contexts, ultimately shaping me into a confident, industry-ready creative.”

The GFW25 Project Pitch winner will be selected on Sunday 15 June.
