Countdown to Freshers' Fortnight begins

With Freshers’ Fortnight less than three weeks away, everyone here at Solent is looking forward to welcoming the new arrivals and helping them to settle in to their new lives in Southampton.

It isn’t just us who are excited though; judging by the number of posts on the official Solent freshers Facebook group, 2014’s freshers are amped up and ready for two weeks of new friends, great parties and amazing entertainment.

Those of you who have already purchased an Access All Areas (AAA) ticket should be particularly excited, this one ticket will grant you access to 16 nights of entertainment split between 18 different Southampton venues. The events, hosted in Southampton’s biggest and best nightclubs, will include performances from the likes of Zane Lowe, Jaguar Skills, MistaJam and Mark Kinchen.

For the first year ever, the AAA pass also includes access to the ‘alternative’ freshers’ fortnight schedule. This is a series of events that run alongside the main freshers entertainment and take place in some of the best rock, indie and gay clubs that Southampton has to offer.

The Freshers’ Fortnight proceedings will come to an end after the main event: Freshers Ball 2014.

This year’s Freshers’ Ball take place at Oceana Southampton, a £6 million super-club in the heart of the city. With DJ sets from some of the biggest names in the business, an appearance from reality TV show star Vicky Pattison and a full sized fairground all included in the ticket price (or the cost of your AAA pass), it’s an event that shouldn’t be missed.

Take a look at the AAA promotional video above, and be sure to follow Solent Students’ Union on Twitter (@SolentSU) and Facebook for the latest news on this year’s freshers events.
