Southampton Solent University is proud to be the official sponsors of this weekend’s Southampton Pride, which returns to the city for the first time in over a decade.
The free community festival takes place in West Marlands Road from 11am ‘til late this Sunday (28 August).
There will be something for everyone on the day, with music and performances starting from 11am as part of the Pride Street Party, and a Pride Parade starting at the Stage Door from 3pm.
David Wright, Resource Management and Access Librarian and Co-Chair of LGBT Staff Network, says: “Solent is delighted to be the official sponsor of Southampton’s first Pride in many years. The University is home to a diverse and vibrant community of students and staff. We firmly believe that everyone is happier and achieves more when they can be their whole selves in our community and not feel they have to keep part of their identity hidden. That’s why events like Pride are so important and why we, at Solent, work hard to create a welcoming and safe environment for all of our students and staff, regardless of their sexuality or gender identity."
Solent ambassadors will be heading up a stand, located near Stage Door, showcasing what the University has to offer.
More information about the day can be found on the Pride website and Facebook page.
