Solent's Conference Centre has been named ‘Best Conference Venue’ at the inaugural Academic Venue Awards, an event to celebrate leading event professionals across the UK.

Solent's Conference Centre has been named ‘Best Conference Venue’ at the inaugural Academic Venue Awards, an event to celebrate leading event professionals across the UK. 

The award ceremony held on Wednesday 22 November 2017 at Queen Mary’s University London was the first of its kind, with the UK’s top academic venues sharing their successes within the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) industry.

The University's Conference and Events team beat off stiff competition from 14 nominees and the award comes alongside a further nine MICE industry award nominations already received since the venue’s launch in June 2016.

Often found behind-the-scenes at events, the venue is run by the Conference and Events team within Commercial Services, part of Estates & Facilities. The team of event professionals is dedicated to driving revenue for the University through the strategic lettings of dedicated commercial campus space as well as overseeing all catering outlets and managing key university events such as graduation celebrations, academic showcases and degree shows.
