Solent’s library has just been awarded a Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Award – for the fifth year running! This award recognises all of the hard work the library does for both students and staff at the university.

The CSE looks at the evidence that the library gathers over the course of a year, assessing it against a number of different criteria.

Chris North, Senior Learning Services Co-ordinator at the library, says: “It’s great that we’ve been accredited again. It means our customers can be confident that staff are independently accredited as delivering an excellent service, and means staff feel like what they do is valued.”

The Mountbatten Library saw a lot of change this summer, with the installation of nearly 200 new PCs and iMacs, as well as a brand-new computer-booking system, ready for the new academic year. This now means that students can guarantee having a computer to work on.

These changes come as a response to student feedback that showed a demand for more IT resources in the library. More power stations will appear in the building for the new network machines, and for students to use their own devices.

The Mountbatten Library will also see increased hours, Windows 10 software, and a new 24-hour support system. This is part of the library’s movement towards a more modern learning space, designed to improve the student experience.
