Students visited Boorley Park, Linden Homes’ flagship development in Botley to view the show homes, with the aim of helping them to visualise the living space in one of the homes, which they have been tasked to redesign for the Fincham family.

Linden Homes (South) Marketing Manager, Jo Dixon was on hand to introduce the development and the types of homes available, including an introduction to The Finchams' layout and anticipated customer profile. Jo also provided the students with an overview of an interior design team's role and how they work together to create an appealing interior to attract purchasers.

Interior design decoration student, Rosie Kirby said: “The opportunity to work with Linden Homes is great. I’d already put some thought into my ideas and design and coming here has really helped my ideas come to life. There’s a lot for me to work with which is exciting - I can be really creative!”

Lydia Southwell, course leader for BA (Hons) Interior Design and Decoration added: “Each year our students find it incredibly useful to visit the home they have been tasked with redesigning. It helps to put their creative thoughts and ideas into a real environment, as well as give a great first insight into what their future career with an award-winning housebuilder may entail, which is invaluable.”

Once the students have completed their creative projects Linden Homes will also play a role in judging their work within a pitch style environment. It provides the students with a taste of the pitch process and a chance to talk through their creative concepts as if pitching to a real life client.

Jo Dixon said: “It’s always an absolute pleasure to work with the ever passionate students from Solent University. Their designs, ideas and energy is always so impressive, it’s difficult to judge them as the standard of work is so high. We wish the group the best of luck in their projects and I can’t wait to have a look at their creations later in the year!”
