Congratulations to the 57 newly qualified navigation officers

Our Warsash Maritime Academy cadets' recent Passing Out ceremony marked the completion of their three-year merchant navy training and education programme for navigation.

Family and friends, sponsors, representatives from shipping organisations, and staff from the University and the Academy joined the cadets for the celebrations at the Novotel in Southampton.


The guest of honour Kathryn Nielson, Director of Merchant Navy Training Board congratulated the officer’s on their achievement as “our future seafarers”.

Speaking about the newly qualified officer’s achievements, Captain Syamantak Bhattacharya, Director of the School of Maritime Science and Engineering, said: “It takes a lot of hard work and determination to get to where they are today. We wish these newly qualified navigation officers every success as they embark on their professional careers in worldwide shipping”.
