Graduate contributes to exciting times for women's game

Watford Ladies has seen quite a rise under John Salomon, but the Solent football studies graduate, who began his coaching career in America, wants to create further success.

John joined Watford Football Club as a community coach in June 2008, and moved into women's football two years later, serving as under-10s head coach, girls centre of excellence director and reserve team manager. The 2011/12 season got off to a poor start, but he was promoted to first-team coach in October and, after five wins from their final seven games, the team secured their FA Women’s Premier League status. This achievement resulted in him being awarded the FA Women's Premier League Coach of the Year award in 2012 and, proving that this was no one-off, he guided the team to runners-up spot the following season, also securing a successful application to the 2014 Women’s Super League.
