The Itchen Bridge is a major route in and out of the city, but did you know you can walk inside it?

Solent TV, the University’s award winning entertainment and documentary web channel, has teamed up with the Daily Echo to produce a series of films for their new feature, Hidden Hampshire.

The first film, launched at the weekend on the Echo’s website, reveals some of the 62,000-ton bridge’s secrets.

“Ben [Solent TV’s Video Content Producer] and I were really nervous at the thought of climbing into the bridge itself. I am from Southampton and have walked over the bridge thousands of times but it’s great to think I am now one of the few people who have actually been inside it,” says Hannah Carroll from Solent TV.

Tony Steyger, Associate Professor, Film and TV at Southampton Solent University, adds: “We’re very excited about this ongoing partnership with the Daily Echo to produce content for the whole of Hampshire – and beyond!”
