Biography
David is an award-winning broadcast journalist and content creator. He has been in the industry for more than two decades, working as a news and sports presenter, reporter and producer for national and regional TV. You may have seen or heard him on ITV News at 10, ITV Sport, CNN and ITV News Meridian.
David joined Solent University in 2013 as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism course. He is now a Senior Lecturer in Sports Journalism and wrote/founded the MA Sports Broadcast Journalism degree.

David’s journalism practice is ongoing. He continues to contribute to ITV News Meridian’s output and brings the latest newsroom techniques and technology into his teaching at Solent. Recently, he worked on ITV’s coverage of the Queen’s funeral, Harry and Meghan’s wedding, and the Covid pandemic. His highly creative work led to him being named ‘ITV’s Young Journalist of the Year’ in 2005.
In sport, David has reported on every major event, including the FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, The Ashes, Formula One World Championships - and interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Steve Redgrave and countless other sporting legends.
As well as traditional media, David is now delving into the world of content creation as part of his research practice. He was named ‘Vlogger of the Year’ by the Travel Media Awards in 2021 and 2018, and TravMedia in 2019. His YouTube channel now has more than 2,000,000 views.
