Simon Saggers

Biography

Simon has been working at Solent University since 2009. Prior to teaching at Solent, he worked in industry for over 10 years, most recently as a research and development engineer, working within the field of industrial computer based automation and control systems, collaborating with industrial partners in the military, medical, transport, oil and gas, and scientific research sectors. He has degrees in mathematics and electronic engineering, and a postgraduate teaching certificate in higher education.

He occasionally assists colleagues in various research projects across the engineering disciplines on an as required basis. Alongside Simon's regular teaching duties, he is currently also undertaking an MSc within the field of Physics at University College London.

Simon's current role at Solent is that of technician instructor (engineering). The role involves delivering (primarily) laboratory sessions and tutorials/seminars, and some lectures. He teaches on a range of units that comprise the various engineering honours degree programmes, and related courses at Solent, including: (foundation/FHEQ Level 3): technology concepts and processes, (FHEQ Level 4): engineering mathematics, applied mathematics, and engineering principles, (FHEQ Level 5): measurement and control, automation and control, and quality and product development, (FHEQ Level 6): mechatronics, and final project.
