As an associate lecturer at Solent University, Suzy has over 10 years experience teaching in both FE and HE. Her own practice as a post-digital transdisciplinary practitioner is currently looking at the convergence of fashion and biochemistry.
This experience, in combination with her Masters studies, has enabled her to pass down first hand cutting edge knowledge to her students in current art and design practices to enhance their learning. In addition to this, her contacts in the field provide a wealth of work experience and collaboration opportunities. Suzy is group tutor for Foundation Makeup Group 2.
Suzy has trained as a knitwear designer at Winchester School of Art, graduating in 2003. Since then she has freelanced at Susie Corio and Zinc Designs in London and has sold her work in various retail venues ranging from small boutiques in Brighton and Arundel to Fortnum & Masons.
Suzy was PA and design assistant to Wendy Keith of Wendy Keith Designs who designs hunting/shooting/fishing socks to the Prince of Wales and is a Royal Warrant Holder. It was through Wendy Keith that Suzy approached the charity QEST, a charity supported by the Queen and the Royal Warrant Holders to promote traditional crafts.
Suzy found that receiving a scholarship with QEST was a fantastic experience with lots of highlights although none could detract from being asked to produce a cashmere throw to be displayed at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
