On this page we look at each stage of the accommodation process, from initial application right through to the day you actually move into your new home.

1. Application

Complete an online application as soon as possible to secure your place in the student residences.

2. Room allocation

Rooms will be allocated during July.  If you are still holding a conditional study offer when the room offer is given, it is on the assumption you will achieve the exam results you require to study with us.

3. View your accommodation offer

We'll then email you a link to our online booking system to view your offer of accommodation.

4. Secure your accommodation

To accept your offer of accommodation you'll need to choose a payment plan and make a pre-payment of £250 by credit or debit card. This pre-payment is not a deposit and will be taken off your overall accommodation fees for the year.

If you've requested a car parking space you will receive a separate parking allocation offer. In order to accept this offer full payment will need to be given. Vehicle detail forms will be sent to you shortly after.

5. Download your contract

When you have accepted your room offer and made the pre-payment you will be asked to revisit the online booking pages to view and print your formal contract for your records.

6 . No longer coming to Solent?

If after accepting your room you find that you are no longer going to be joining us, please contact accommodation@solent.ac.uk so we can cancel your contract and arrange for a refund of your prepayment.

7. Complete your online induction

A couple of weeks before you are due to start with us you will be invited to complete the accommodation online induction.

This short activity is designed to give you all the essential information that you will need before you move into University accommodation. You will also be able to book your arrival date and time, print out you key collection paperwork and get directions to your student residence.

8. Print your documents

Print out the following documents from the accommodation online induction:

  • Formal offer of accommodation.
  • Key collection form.
  • Moving in parking permit.

Do not pack these documents in the bottom of your suitcase, as you will be required to show your offer when you move in.

9. Arrival

On the day you arrive, hand your copy of the contract to the relevant member of staff at the residence and bring photographic proof of identity with you. You will then be given your keys and/or access cards.

If you have been allocated a parking space, hand in the vehicle detail form and you will receive a permit to be displayed in your vehicle and an access card for the car park.
