Solent University recently hosted, and participated in, The Swarm and Search AI: 2019 Fire Hack – an international hackathon with a 48 hour challenge to develop algorithms and artificial intelligence necessary to control drones that could aid efforts in tackling wildfires.
Hack the South
Hack the South
Five Solent students recently took part in Hack the South, a 36-hour hackathon open to all students, but with a particular focus on those living and studying in the south of England. This hackathon was held in Southampton and involved teams of students hacking interesting and creative ideas into software or hardware products.
Cisco networking labs
CISCO networking labs
Our high-tech computer networking labs are a well-known Cisco academy, and training courses ranging from introductory level to industry-recognised commercial certificates, such as CCNA and CCNP are held here. The facility is a training partner with EC-Council to provide Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) qualification and certification and, in collaboration with Westermo, also provides training on the Westermo networking equipment designed specifically for extreme weather conditions.

Cybersecurity Student of the Year
Digital and Technology Solutions apprentice, Elliott Simmonds was recently named Cybersecurity Student of the Year, at the SC 2019 Awards (Europe), held at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square. Elliott is currently working with Telesoft Technologies Ltd as an apprentice engineer
