Solent treat their students
The start of the 2015/16 academic year saw three exciting new catering outlets launch at The Dock, East Park Terrace’s restaurant.
Responding to student and staff requests for choice and variety, The Dock now features ‘Treats’, ‘Yardbird’ and ‘Originals’.
They join the ‘Natural’ outlet, which solely serves vegetarian food and was launched last year.
Marc Goodman, business development manager at Solent, said: “By bringing together the latest trends and freshest produce, we’ve been able to create these concepts to help develop our students’ experience.
“The variety on offer at The Dock is always impressive and constantly evolving.”
The opening ceremony for the new outlets took place in October, with Marc Goodman, Naomi Oiku, Students’ Union President, and Nick Hayter, group manager at Sodexo, cutting the ribbon.
Yardbird is already becoming a firm favourite, offering a mix ‘n’ match selection of chicken dishes including peri-peri, reggae reggae and sriracha.
In addition, quorn chorizo is on offer for those who want the heat but don’t want the meat. It’s open for lunch between 11am and 2.30pm.
Treats is a retro-inspired diner that serves waffles and crepes with a vast selection of toppings, fruit and sauces.
You can still get all your favourite hot drinks but the menu has expanded to include shakes, floats and sundaes with a choice of 12 ice cream flavours including coconut, honeycomb and seasonal specials such as chocolate orange. It’s open 8am-3.30pm.
Originals offers traditional favourites such as tea and toast, cooked breakfasts and roast dinners.
However, you can also catch a dish from around the world with curries, frittatas and spicy selections on offer throughout the week. Grab a bite between 8am-3.30pm during the week.
The Dock is catered by Sodexo, which also runs the Artisan cafe in Guildhall Square.
The team has pioneered many hospitality innovations over the last few years on campus and is proud to have received ‘The Good Egg’ award and the ‘Silver Status’ catering mark as part of the Soil Association as well as accreditations from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Food Standards Assured (FSA).
