New conference centre for Southampton based in 'The Spark'

In addition to state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, Southampton Solent University’s new building at East Park Terrace will provide much needed city centre conference and exhibition space.

Work is well underway on the stunning new £30 million development at the University’s East Park Terrace campus, with a projected completion date of early 2016.

In addition to two bespoke lecture theatres, a spectacular atrium, perfect for large exhibitions, product launches and gala dinners will form the central hub of the new block.

The spectacular centre piece of the new building, designed by architects Scott Brownrigg, will be a multi-functional suspended ‘pod’ housing a lecture theatre and viewing platform above.

The new conference centre will feature two large flexible suites comprising of: four meeting rooms with breakout hospitality areas overlooking the atrium; a bookable business centre with reprographic facilities; plus a new café and VIP dining area.

A dedicated hospitality kitchen will be installed, producing prestige menus for all occasions including: weddings; conferences; and gala dinners.

Once completed, Solent University Conference Centre will move to this stunning new event space, which will be available for hire by the local community as well as business and community groups.
