A Solent student has won an Activia Training scholarship, winning funds to support her studies, with two other students from Solent in runner up positions.

Denisa Dudeanu, in her third year studying BA (Hons) Film and Television, created a video answering the question ‘What does learning mean to you?’, and discussed her move from Romania to Southampton in pursuit of higher education.

She was announced as her category’s winner last week, alongside a student from Oxford University. As a result, Activia Training has awarded Denisa with £165 to use towards her studies.

Denisa says: “Beyond the cash prize, or anything else, winning the award felt rewarding because it reminded me of participating in workshops, conferences and volunteer work, as well as taking on competitions that I often won!

“I’m happy the university started advertising opportunities for bursaries and scholarships, which is how I found out about Activia's competition. I also met up with someone from the student achievement office, who helped me organise myself and the deadlines, and to plan what I wanted to say in my video.”

Runners up in the video category included Solent students Danny Purnell, studying BA (Hons) Marketing, and Nicola Di Pierro, studying BSc (Hons) Fitness and Personal Training. They both received a prize of £15.
