Christine joined Solent University in 2011. She is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University in fashion design, and alongside her teaching, is currently working for an MA in Sustainable Design at the University of Brighton.

Industry experience

Christine has worked in the fashion industry for over 20 years. Her career has focused mainly on womenswear design, specializing in both evening/occasion wear and relaxed lifestyle.

She has worked as an in-house designer and as a freelance in the UK and Europe, designing collections for labels including Escada & Bruce Oldfield, as well as for High St brands. She also ran her own small business, designing, developing & promoting ranges, and providing a bespoke service.

Her designs have appeared in publications including Tatler, Vogue and Bride & Groom.

Teaching experience

Prior to joining Solent University, Christine was course leader teaching applied art, design and fashion at Sussex Downs College and foundation (fashion) at the University of Creative Arts, Farnham. She holds a PGCE and a PGCTLHE.

Research interests

Her on-going interest and research lies particularly in the area of sustainability: how the fashion and textile industries can adapt and innovate to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
