Daen is a curator and writer. He has worked in the fields of art, fashion and international cultural relations across institutions, including the National Portrait Gallery, the Wallace Collection, Leighton House Museum and Leica Gallery Los Angeles.

Daen is the Editor and Co-Founder of The Protagonist Magazine, a high quality bi-annual publication about art and culture. For the publication, Daen also acts as the Creative Director, overseeing the publication process from conceptualisation to final product. The Protagonist Magazine is distributed internationally and stocked at Somerset House, Tate Modern, Waterstones London, WHSmith Paris, Palais de Tokyo, and many more in New York, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Krakow and Berlin.

  1. Industry experience

    Daen has worked with Jaguar Fragrances Limited, McLaren Automotive, Lalique, Leica Camera and a range of high-end luxury fragrance companies for campaign shoots as well as on written features and editorial image productions for print editions of Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire, Guardian Weekend, Leica S Magazine, MilliOnAir, LFI, Filmfare and The Protagonist Magazine.
  2. Teaching experience

    Daen has taught at Ravensbourne, Plymouth College of Art, Falmouth University, Solent University and Coventry University London about curating, writing and publishing as well as fashion styling and creative direction.

    Having completed an MA in Art & Politics at Goldsmiths, University of London, Daen’s research interests include Latin American Postcolonial Theory, Exoticism, Edward Linley Sambourne and his contemporaries, as well as 19th century portrait photography in Brazil. During his work at the Mexican Embassy in London, Daen assisted the Head of Cultural Affairs and facilitated several exhibitions, publications and events as part of the Mexico UK cultural programme.
