Jennifer was born and educated in Scotland and started her professional life in financial services after receiving a BSc in mathematics from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.
She initially worked within the research department of a stockbroking firm before moving into fund management. The skills required for these areas included technical and analytical ability that involved using computers to help analyse market trends.
After a break from work for maternity leave she started working at Napier University in Edinburgh, teaching on units that used the skills and analysis gained from her professional work. During this time she also took on several self-employed projects
Jennifer came to Southampton in 1998 after escaping from child rearing. She is currently a programme leader for the BIT Programme.
Having spent many years in industry in various roles, Jennifer knows from first-hand experience of the benefits of a degree in business information technology.
