John Barfoot is programme group leader for the built environment programmes at Southampton Solent University. John has worked as a senior lecturer at Southampton Solent University since 2007. Before that, John was the co-ordinator for the built environment department at Highbury College in Portsmouth. Prior to this John worked in the construction industry holding a number of senior roles with construction companies, developers and in private practice.
He holds a BSc in quantity surveying from Portsmouth Polytechnic, qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1986 and earned his post-graduate certificate in learning and teaching (higher education) in 2009 from Southampton Solent University. John is a Fellow of the HEA and in 2014 he won the Solent University employment and enterprise awards as part of the outstanding staff employability initiative.
John is also the course leader for the built environment HNC programme and link tutor for the HNC collaboration with Bournemouth and Poole College and responsible for the built environment higher and degree apprenticeships and the built environment’s programme links with China.
