Biography

A senior lecturer in BA (Hons) Sports Journalism, John joined Solent University to lead the newly established sport journalism degree in September 2007 after a career of more than 25 years in sports journalism.

During that time he worked for provincial newspapers and freelanced for national newspapers, before joining BBC Sport in 2000. John also worked for the BBC Sport website and in production for Radio Five and television, including Match of the Day.

Over his career he has attended and covered three Olympic Games, football and cricket World Cups, football European Championships, major athletic championships, Premier League football and other major events.
