Biography

Julie has over 25 years' experience in education and has taught on several art, design and fashion courses. 

Since graduating from Canterbury College of Art with a BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Julie spent several years as a freelance designer in the London, followed by a period of employment in a multi disciplinary studio as a senior designer.

Julie has extensive knowledge of curriculum development having successfully written and developed several new courses at Solent University. Julie has been a panel member on numerous validation events both internally and externally at universities in the UK and abroad; additionally she has been called upon to act on a consultancy basis as an HE Expert at a global validation event.

A keen interest in pedagogic issues, in particular the assessment of creative practice, formed the basis of her research topic whilst she was a teaching and learning fellow at Solent. This research was further developed whilst on the MA Education course at Kingston University.

Julie has been an external examiner both in the UK and abroad for over 20 years and is currently an external examiner for Manchester Metropolitan University School of Art and Nottingham Trent University for their BA (Hons) Graphic Design courses.
